NOS '70 Skylark 350 upper hose which as we know, NOS doesn't mean correct - N o stripe, but a series of repeated numbers (3x over the length IIRC)
This Dayco hose interchanges with the 1386849 hose. Gates also makes one, part number 20980 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Dayco-Radi...rentrq:dce095891650a99b08afc243fffefb5e|iid:1
Guys- what ever happened to Jim W's restoration thread on flynbuick (Jim L's) GSX and triple black 70 convertible??? Lots of good info there, too...?
George, Jim's two restos are stickies in the resto forum.. this is the paint forum.. Now don't quote this is gospel, it has been a long time since I did this research, but I am pretty sure there were only two suppliers for 70 GS radiator hoses, when the cars were built.. Goodyear (no stripe and white stamp- Kliner does these) and then Gates, Yellowish stripe and stamp, which is what Jim's were done to look like. As far as the parts department goes, there were many suppliers over the decades for that hose, so an "NOS" hose could be from several vendors.. you would have to check the date code on the hoses to see what vintage it is. We chose to use new Rubber, and re-create the look, over the NOS hoses that were out there, for this reason. JW
Scooped this on EBay. Guy did not know what he had. Or I got nothing . Looks yummy to me . Gates were OE in 72 Correct?
So the 69 BBB would be different as it need to sit deeper into the hook and not there up in the strap?
I’ll throw in a third hose supplier. GM itself. I see hoses with Gates or Goodyear Markings as well as others with just GM part. Anyone’s guess who made those? Some of my long time GM mechanic friends always told me GM had three suppliers of parts so they would not be held hostage by any.
Off topic - but kinda not - in my search (and discovery) of overflow hoses, I've noticed one has 3-4 ribs and one has upwards of 7. Same scenario, maybe? (Hostage)
