Who makes copper header gaskets for a 455 and how much are they? I have a turbo on a 455 and it's not to nice to the header gaskets. Thank You Brent
Cool! Do you have any more info / pictures? I bought a sheet of copper with the intention of making my own but never did it. I'm having luck with the graphite impregnated (I think that's right) gaskets from AM&P and I think others carry something similar also. I did make a set from high temp gasketing material available from McMaster-Carr but I used the 1/16" thick and I should have used 1/8" or so.
No I do not have any pictures. I am still working all the bugs out of the fuel system. I have a Rayjay turbo and wastegate, Homade header on the pass side, a TA shorty on the driver side with a cross over to the pass header. I used a 3 1/2 inch down pipe and split it into the 3 inch duals I already had. It is a blow through system with an old 900 cfm Holley projection system. I am using a Vortech fuel presure regulater that is boost refrenced for fuel enrichment. Its way to rich and I am slowly getting it worked out. Right now I am Planning on running about 6 or 7 pounds of boost. I have it set a 5 right now and holy crap does it make a difference. If you are real interested in the set up, send me a PM and we can get in touch. thanks Brent
Hi Brent SCE makes excellent annealed copper gaskets Company website http://www.scegaskets.com/index.htm go to the catelog, domestic performance, enter buick 400-455 etc.... HTH
You need a flat deck and head surface for copper head gaskets or you'll have coolant leaks. You should also run o-rings if you are cranking the boost up, but it will require machine work.
