    Will a convertor work with a T350 and a T400 without problems?

I'm looking at a convertor that was used on a 350, but I need it for my 400. Will it bolt in?

The torque convertors will interchange between the TH350 and TH400 with the exceptions of the later lockup 350s and the switch pitch 400s.

What about Stall when swapping converters do T400 Torque Converters have a higher stall than a 350 ?

What is considered a "later lockup" 350?

Greg Schmelzer What are you looking at?!

It is a torque convertor that locks up and essentially gives yet another gear. I believe that they started with them in '78 or so and called them TH350C. I hear tale that you can use a switch and solenoid to turn it on and off? Others will know more. :Do No:

Depends entirely in what vehicle they are installed. Several things determine stall speed. Engine torque production, vehicle weight, rear gear, are just a few. In general if you take a converter that was behind a small block, and install it behind a big block, it will stall higher. The opposite is also true. Most manufacturers will specify a stall speed range. There is no such thing as a converter that will stall, at say 2000 RPM, for every vehicle it goes into. Too many variables. That is why if you buy a converter from Coan, they'll want to know every part of your combo. If you are buying something second hand, you really don't know. The smaller the diameter of the converter, the higher it will stall, everything else being equal.

It will work only if your flex plate has both the 350 and 400 holes drilled in them. The 400 takes a wider pattern.
