So I have a line on and am considering a 71 Convertible skylark.

350-2 non air TH350 auto non posi. Motor was rebuilt 10 years age, approx 20k on it, runs great.

Top is totally solid and functional. Seats have been redone, no rips. Body had been redone with panels, but now the light coat of filler is cracking in some places. Faded paint. One rot hole small on drivers lower door is the only other visible. Chrome verry nice. Solid grill.

Door panels are shot. Interior rug is not bad, floor has already been fixed along with trunk.

Exhaust is junk from y pipe back. Tires are junk.
Wheelwell rot under battery but it comes with the year one fixer piece.
Core support will need minor repair.
    Chassis rubber looks good
No rare options on this car.
    Driver bumpers, small dents

I have seen a lot of verts going for 5k+ on ebay etc.

My question is, what do you think this car could be worth? Obviously it is worth whatever a buyer and seller agree to, but I want to hear $$$ estimates from those who know convertibles. Because I do not know them.

What should I be looking out for?

    Thanks!

Sounds like a poor resto coming apart fast $3500

From what I have seen I would say that sums it up well. Thanks for your input.

If you can see that many body issues now just wait for the big deals to show once you remove the lipstick and start taking that tar baby apart.

If it runs and drives it's worth that $3500. If you have to trailer it and work on it to make it run then $2000. There are a large number of parts that are unique to the 71-72 convertibles that are not the same as 70.

Do you want a Convertible? I assume the car is somewhere near you? If you need a list of places to look for issues in a convertible beyond what a coupe or sedan has drop a reply and I'll try and help you out. Mine needed a lot of work in some places that are not normal.
