HI. Have a couple of top motors out of 71 and 72 Skylark/GS. One still has lines and lifts attached. Have a battery in the garage but not sure how to hook up for testing. Can someone point me in the right direction?

    Thanks.

Pretty sure theres just a 2 wire connection.

and if you reverse the polarity the pump moves in the other direction.

If the cylinders and lines are attached you'll have no mess.

For the pump with no lines, just make sure the reservoir is empty, and maybe wrap it in a rag so that the fluid that might spurt out wont go everywhere.

    And trivia for today....
The old Chrysler Lebarons use the same pump. just switch reservoirs. When I had a convertible I could get a Lebaron pump for $12 at the junk yard with lines too!
Just grab part of the wiring harness from the Lebaron so you dont have to cut the one in your car. but both operate on 2 wires.

Thanks Curtis. Messed around with the two pumps a while ago. Successfully made the one still connected to lines and lifts work. It pulled the shaft back into the lift. Little bit of fluid came out of the top of one lift. There were laying flat when I test. The other motor I only get spark from my wires at the battery but no movement.

I had a motor that I would take apart. And remove the gear and clean it. Reassemble ad it would work. I'd install in the car and it wouldn't work. So I'd remove again for bench testing and it would not work. I'd take it apart and reassemble and it would work! Never did figure out why.
