convert 300 ci engine from 2 barrel to 4 barrel

    Is it possible to convert a 1964 buick lesabre 300 ci, 2 barrel to a 4 barrel? If just the carburetor where do I buy it?

    You'll need to replace the manifold and the carb. If your car stil has the aluminum heads it will need an aluminum manifold since the port sizes are different from the cast iron. They only offered the 300 with 4 barrel 2 years 64 and 65, 64 was aluminum and 65 was cast iron, son both years are one year only manifolds and they aren't easy to find, expect ro pay $400ish for either. The carb for that engine is the old Rochester and that was the last year GM used that style carb, in 65 they went to the Carter AFB. Another difference is the compression ratio, the 4 barrel was 11:1 (10.25:1 in 65) and the 2 barrel was 9:1(8.5:1 in 65), a 4 barrel will work fine with either.

    I've had several 300 2 barrel cars and they do fine. What are you trying to accomplish?

    Well ... probably trying to accomplish more than I should. I just thought a 4 barrel would give it a little more and look cool. Thank you so much for responding.
