    Hey all,
I'm wanting an arm rest\center console type thing for my front bench seat. Anyone have a preferred type or vendor?
I don't want to put buckets in, and want something just for long drives. Something stable that won't fall over easily.

    Thanks!

I think you have to create something yourself.
Or put 60/40 seats in the car, these have a built-in arm rest.
(at least the big Buicks had those, but I'm not sure about the A-bodies)

    EDIT:

Found this image of a Skylark with a bench seat with an arm rest in the 1972 Buick brochure:

Riviera 60/40 seats with arm rest, also from the 1972 Buick brochure.
But these are too wide for your Skylark:

Yeah... don't need to spend that kinda money.
Just something that'll hold my elbow, and a couple coffee mugs for trips.
I'll try to find some aftermarket thing. Or have my buddy build one that I can upholster.

Maybe something that mounts over the transmission tunnel, in front of the seat, and comes up over the seat?

Dear HwyStarJoe72, Nailhead in a 1967, and V-8 Buick interior decorators,

For many years I had a console that rested on the bench seat in the space were a 3rd person could in principle sit. However, it was actually designed for a pickup truck and was too wide. The passenger would be squeezed. However, in those days I was living alone and it wasn't much of an issue. I have found some after market vendors of consoles that aren't too expensive and sit on top of a bench seat. Here is one

    and here is the other:

There is still a good local upholsterer in our area. My latest plan was to make my own console frame out of wood and then have the upholsterer put fabric over that. You can get things like cup holders from outfits that provide interior parts for boats.

So you have some choices. It is a matter of how much time and money you are willing to put into the project.

    Cheers, Edouard
