Hi All, Not sure if this is the right place to post this... I'm having issues with my 1969 Buick Skylark column shift. The shifter itself will physically get stuck in the neutral position while switching gears but the engine remains in gear. I have 0 car knowledge and took it in to be repaired in Austin, TX. A year later I get the car back, pay for it, and it's not fixed. I would love a recommendation for someone in the Austin Area, or if this is something I can tackle myself. I was told it was probably the bushings (?). Thanks!
I’m not sure how much help I can offer, but based on myexperience with RHD Holden column shifts, I’d be looking at the bushes at the base of the steering column. <o></o> They wear & would cause the shift lever to jam. On cheap‘fix’ was to fit a muffler clamp round the base of the column, over the bush,to clamp down on it. <o></o> <o></o> GM seemed to use many of the same methods over different countries & model ranges. <o></o> <o></o> Dunno if it would work on a Buick though. Have you tried lube on all joints, etc? <o></o> That’s all I have I’m afraid. <o></o> Greetings from Australia, <o></o> Chris
uhhh...you dropped your car off FOR A YEAR? I would of been screaming if the guy took longer than a day or two
