My 70 GS doesnt have a clutch return spring on the linkage anywhere. In the assembly manual it shows the clutch fork with an extra bracket on it for a spring that goes to the frame. My clevis style fork has no provision for a spring. No extra bracket is welded to it like in the manual. I believe the pedal itself is also supposed to have a spring on it too. I took a universal auto parts store clutch spring and attached one end to the lower arm of the z bar and the other to the frame. Works fine this way but isnt exactly factory looking. Any ideas?

This is mine off my '71 GSX. Note the bracket.

Ken, Yes thats the bracket that the spring is supposed to be attached to. My question really is if theres no bracket attached to my fork, where am I supposed to attch the spring to? There arent any holes in the fork. And where exactly is the spring supposed to be located on the pedal?

No return spring is shown on the pedals in the assembly manuals, only on the fork.

I did the same thing on my '69 GS California. Used a universal spring routed to the frame, then used the small hole located in the fork where the adjusting rod goes. Seems to work fine (30,000 miles) and has not shown any wear or elongation of the hole.
