I'm converting my 65 Skylark to a 4spd. and put the pedals in today. I believe above the clutch pedal there is a rubber stop block for the pedal to rest against when the pedal is let out. Does someone make this block or do I have to find it from another car? Also is there a start safety switch for the clutch and if so where does it mount? Thanks!
Tim, Yes there is a stop. Try Year One (YO) or one of the Chevelle parts guys. The safty switch is mounted on the colum by the pedels inside the car. There is an "interlock" rod that runs from the trans to the colum to make it work. Or I could be all wrong, my '69 was an automatic car to begin with. Jim
I converted my 66. I jumped the nuetral safety , installed a toggle for the reverse lights. are you using the factory set up , with the equalizer and frame braket? A lot of monkey motion, like no other model! have fun!
Thanks Jim! Frank if I can find the factory steering column and other parts I will go that route. If not I will go the route you did with the nuetral safety switch. Thanks Guys!!!
Tim, As for the steering colum, I used the lower collar from a Camaro floor shift car. The difference was 1/4 inch, and is covered by the dash. Look for a 67-68 Camaro/Firebird or early Nova. Should be able to find something that will work. Not too bad of a job, lay everything out and reassemble in reverse order. A piece of black electrical tape over the selector section will make the shift pattern go away. GM had Delco make the colums for all of thier cars. The majority of the parts will interchange. Jim
