Could somebody tell me if the Buicks use a different style clutch fork than what I can buy after market. The pics I have been looking at show a slot at the end , not a ball socket like the one I have. I would like to convert my parts and linkage back to orignal. 1970 GS455. Thanks, Gary

The big blocks use a clutch fork with a clevis pin. The small blocks use the garden variety style with the cup. An original BB clutch fork is made of unobtainium.

You can bet all those parts from Dave Kleiner at GS enterprises. Dont put the small block fork in...doesnt work right, take it from me i know! Dave also gave me the the measurements to all the parts so i could make sure the geometry was correct. My clutch rod to the Z bar was also incorrect.

My whole setup came out of a GTO about 28 years ago. Can't remember exactly what car it came out of. I would guess it came out of a big block 400 if it was in the GTO. I will check with GS Enterprises and do some digging. Thanks.

Does anybody have a recent phone # for Dave Kleiner. I could not find any info online for GS Enterprises.

In other news, you can make for yourself (way cheaper) the rod from the fork to the z-bar using an exhaust stud and female, spherical end link. It works way better (infinitely more adjustable and smoother clutch application) than anything Dave will sell you; only because the factory thing is a joke.

Thanks Brad, I will check it out. Sounds like that would be the way to go.

Napa part number on that spherical rod end is 732-1129. That phone number I suggested is a fake.

I was cleaning up my clutch fork and noticed that the small retainer clip that hold the fork to the ball stud is partially missing. Can anybody tell me where I can buy a replacement aftermarket fork that is going to fit the 455??

    Thanks, Gary

I suspect that clip is standard on any of the GM type forks of the era. I had a broken one at one time. The transmission shop seemed to have no problem installing a new clip on the old fork. And they charged next to nothing although the trans was out anyway. The BBB fork is unique and allegedly not found on other GM rides; made of unobtanium it will cost mucho.
