Before I embark on this project, I was wondering if anyone has attempted a cable clutch setup...like in the 86-91 style mustangs?? :Do No:

Hopefully, I could be the first one!!! But if anyone has, please chime in :3gears:

You don't say what kinda car you are doing this to, so I assume a V8 Buick. Since a cable bellhousing and clutch fork was produced for Buick, that part should be a snap. Using a cable is just a matter of getting the geometry right. Beware the Mustang system. Hardcore 5.0 guys say the quadrants wear out. The quadrant is the unit with the hard plastic teeth that allows you to periodically adjust your clutch by lifting the pedal. I understand an aftermarket one is available. Now I'm no 5.0 expert, so I suggest talking to one. Otherwise, your project sounds very achievable. Good luck and keep us posted. :TU:

It would be on a 1974 Buick Century 2 Door. Just got finished putting a 455 in with a 2004r transmission. I am missing the shifting gears already though.. :3gears: . I have a World Class T5 that will have to do right now until I can save some money for something a little stronger.

My friend had an 89 Mustang 5.0 and I have some pieces left from his setup. We did replace his quadrant setup with an aftermarket piece because of what you said(plastic gear teeth on adjuster wear out). Pretty simple setup if you ask me....if I can get the geometry right

I intend to start this weekend and I will take lots of pics... :TU:

Mid 70's and up GM H body cars (Monza, Sunbird, Skyhawk) used a clutch cable system for their manual shift cars. I'm not sure how available those parts are today.
