    hey folks

i can hear a clickin noise, I assume from listening, it comes from the 2nd cylinder. sometimes its there, sometimes not. it accelerates with the rpms.
could it be a misadjusted rocker, but why is the temporary then ?

    its a 60 invicta w/ 401 nailhead

    thx for any help

    69GS400s ...my own amusement ride!

you should state what year and motor you are talking about ..

    .. but the 350 / 400/ 430 / 455 all have non-adjustable rockers from the factory.

If I were to take a wild guess, I'd say you have a sticky hydraulic lifter. They can stick for a variety of reasons .. sometimes just being gummed up. My SportWagon had that problem and on the advice of master engine builder and the V8 board owner, I changed the oil and substituted 1 qt oil for a qt of trans fluid which helps dissolve the gunk - after about 200 or so miles of regular driving the noise was gone - I drove it for another 200 or so and changed the oil again back to all oil and it has been fine since.

    YMMV

I use Marvel mystery Oil for such.
I regularly add Marvel Mystery oil to the crankcase a few miles before an oil change.
and, I add 4 ounces of marvel Mystery oil to each fill up of fuel in all my cars
