http://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2014/12/16/chrysler-fiat-fca-name-killed/20483229/ Sad day for sure.
Sounds like only the parent company name is changing. There will still be Chryslers in the same sense as there are Buicks made by GM. It is sad to be sure, but frankly they are lucky to still be around in some form.
Chrysler hasn't been "Chrysler Corporation" in years and years. This change in the name of the business entity it operates under will be unnoticed.
Interesting to me is; Our 2012 Ram pick-up truck at work has a Chrysler VIN.. So it is Chrysler Ram pick-up (not a Dodge)
I'm pretty sure I saw a commercial highlighting the "Dodge Brothers" for the Challenger / Charger / Dart over a week or so ago. Maybe marketing strategy starting. Tony
Try telling a "Ram" pickup owner that it's not a Dodge. It would be easier to sell ice to an Eskimo. They just don't get it.
When I was asked to find the name 'Dodge' somewhere on the truck, Not finding the name 'Dodge', I glanced at the VIN. Chrysler it said.
I heard a really funny joke about Chrysler some years ago... I think I read it in Car & Driver or another contemporary auto magazine back when DaimlerChrysler existed. A Mercedes Benz Executive was asked how the name of the new company would be pronounced. He responded that the name of the new company may be spelled "DaimlerChrysler", but it should be pronounced just "Daimler" - because "Chrysler" is silent just like the French!!!
