    Hey all,

Who does plastic chrome restoration? I have my tail lights from my 67' Gran Sport that are a bit pitted and needs cleaning up. Anybody know where I can call or send these to make them brand new?

    Thanks,

    Alan

Your taillights are pot metal and will need to go to a pot metal resto company. I have been sending all my pot metal (headlight bezels, hood trim, etc) to AIH Custom Chrome in IA. They are not cheap but their work is perfection. Expect to take 8-12 weeks to get them back. Visit www.buickperformance.com/vendors.htm for their contact info.

    Head light bezels

    George,
Also my head lights bezels are painted black on the outside and I guess stainless steel on the inside. Both are painted different. I have the 67' Gran Sport DVD from American Muscle Car and that shows teh entire head light bezel as being chrome. Which is correct? I am gettign ready to do some front end work here and do not want to re-duplicate my efforts. Any advice?

Contact George Papadoupolus here. I think his user name is 67GS400.
He will know the details on the 67 bezels.

As for the 70 headlight bezels, I have a set at AIH now. They were in poor condition. Many many blisters/pits. Cost is $220 each.

I had a 70 set done last year that was in good condition (few blisters/pits) and they charge $170 each.

The reason they are expensive to redo is that each blister/pit has to be ground smooth with a dremel tool and then filled in with solder. Then it has to be smoothed to match the existing surface. Then, polished to a mirror finish and chrome plated!

I think I have went thru 4-5 pot metal companies, all did decent work, but all of them are out of business. So........someone told me about AIH and I have been using them for 5+ years.

Alan, the ones you see chrome i personally think were prototypes for commercials, the correct is black on the inside where the headlights are,the outside argent silver to match the grille and the edges around are chrome,in order to get the chromed outer edges you may need to chrome the whole bezel if yours are not in nice shape and then mask everything off and paint the rest as required.

    Thanks
