I finally got to see Chris last Friday. If you are into folk or blues, you owe it to yourself to see this guy. He grew up in New Orleans, and that in itself gives a good indication of how hot he is. He has a microphone down at his feet because he constantly taps them and it adds the perfect rhythm percussion to every song. Awesome guitar and vocals. A fabulous night of entertainment. He came out after the show and talked with whoever was around and signed CDs and autographs. http://www.smither.com Let's give him his props people!
I love the internet!!! I just found a free 2 hour video concert of Chris here: http://www.primeticket.net/shows/chrissmither/ Only for those with high speed internet. The show displays all his talents real well.
Thanks for posting this! Very cool. I'm listening to the concert while I'm surfin' now. I will be hunting down a cd. Thanks again!
You're so very welcome! His 2000 CD Live as I'll Ever Be has many of the songs in this concert (especially the first one and the one with the fruit vendor). His new one is called Train Home. He is 59 years old and has been touring and recording since about 1970. So anything I can do to get this fine artist recognition I'll gladly do. He is friends with Jorma Kaukonen (Hot Tuna, Jefferson Airplane) and is a teacher at Jorma's guitar school. We need more folk blues musicians. It is a very personal style of music that seems to be getting lost amidst the heavy metal and rap that permeates our lives. How cool is it that he mikes his feet. He is a foot stomper!
