Huge thank you to Mike for selling me his ultra clean and cool 70 Stage1.

The car is awesome, and credit for the work done on it goes to Mike Garrison.
Great workmanship on auto body, paint, detail, attention to detail on fit and finish.
Quality work, on a documented Quality car.
    Thanks again to both Mike's.

Btw, this car was done 15 years ago, and looks FRESH!

Congratulations Tom. You've had some really nice looking cars in the past so if you are happy with this one, I know it must be a really nice car in person.

btw, your new car is the same color combination as V8Buick board member Glen Biggers (username Mr Big). I think it looks great.

Nice - That was the color combo in a lot of Buick ads in '70. 20160619_233848.jpg

    Yes, was in Japan.
Mike had to reimport it into the US., and he did this while living in China. Said it was quite the feat!

Plan is to make it match that ad.
So I'm looking for rallys to add some redlines

Very nice! Will you have 14 or 15 inch wheels?

Glen B. had redlines/road wheels on his white/brown top ‘70 Stage 1 at one time and it looked sharp. I’ll see if he has a photo to share so you can see what yours will look like.

I don't have anything, so I can go either way, but 14's would work provided they are the later wheels with the deep offset that look like 15x7's at first glance.
Then I would run G70-14 Firestone Wide Oval Redlines

I reckon Tom's going to have fun with that car. I have no doubt that it was setup as a drag racer, spent some time as a hemi killer, and still is. Tom can give you his opinion on that after he goes through it, but I think he also needs a pair of slicks for maximum enjoyment and a brake job. I'm glad it's going to a good home and a long time board member.

Kuddos to Mike Garrison are well deserved. He did a great job getting it to where it is now. Both cosmetic and mechanical.

It's the GS that's been around the world. Born in Michigan, sold in Denver Colorado, exported to Japan, reimported via Los Angeles to Kansas, then to Mississippi, and back to Michigan. That's all documented. Probably been shipped 30k miles or more and after 50 years it's back to where it came from. That's pretty cool.

    SP4SPD Slideways in the streets!

I think that Dave Hemker still has his Opel GT in his stable of cars if you want to get with him to really recreate the ad!
Really nice ride you got there too, cant wait to see it in person!!

    Thanks again Mike.
My boy and I have been cleaning her up over the last few evenings.
Drove her down to the gas station last night for a fresh tank of premium, followed by a short drive which includes some highway miles, as well as a few country road miles.
On a nice stretch of deserted country road, I brought the car to a stop, and my son started giggling immediately, as he knew what was about to happen, or at least he thought he did.
He wasn't ready for what 510 ft/lbs of torque does to a pair of 255/60-15 radials.
I punched it, and she boiled both tires all the way through first, into 2nd, and although she was spinning, the cooper cobras were still propelling us forward, but she left a pair of black stripes for about an 1/8 of a mile.
    She runs good!
My boy says, Holy Crap! I didn't think it ran this good!
    Lol, that was fun!

I took my 15 y/o boy for a ride in my Stage 1 a couple weeks ago. He's not really into cars but is kinda old school (he's an old soul) & liked the car. I too stopped but he wasn't ready for me to launch it, lol.

Don't hate me but I'm going back to Corvettes. I've had 65&66 327 coupes, 71 454 convertible, 80, and 95 ZR1. All manual trans except the 80. Looking at a C6 with 14k miles. I can't even count the Buicks I've had. The one I regret selling the most might surprise you. The 1966 Riviera GS factory dual quad that I sold to Tom Mooney. And he won't sell it back to me ☹️

Mike- you still have any of the other cars left from your "fleet sale" ad???

  19. MikeM

    MikeM Mississippi Buicks

No, they're all gone but certainly not forgotten. I believe that they all got a good new home. Looking back, they all went pretty cheap. The convertibles sold for around $13k. Even the 71GS455 4spd that Jim Weiss fixed up for me so you know it was nice. I'd be interested to know who has them now and how they are doing.

    That would be cool!

Tom, what did you ever do with the white '67 GS 400 you got from up my way many moons ago?
