I'm hunting down a shifter to finish off my console install and correct Buick ones seem hard to come by. Would a horseshoe shifter from a Chevelle or Monte Carlo fit the same? I've found quite a few of them, and was also wondering if the difference is just the plastic top, and if there is a source for the correct pieces to make it a Buick shifter. Thanks for any assistance! Tim
You can not interchange shifters. There are usually 2-3 floor shifters on EBay at most times. You want one from 70-2. The 73-77 versions look similar but won't work because they have an arc in the base plate and won't sit flush on the 70-2 floorpans.
