Has anyone tried using the tubular crossmember the Chevelle (70) uses instead of the Buick one with the rubber bushings on the ends? Turbo 400/ 455 set up

I have one in the X-Camino that I built. It has the buick 455/TH400 set up and works fine. I have a friend that is using the Oldsmobile style cross-member and it works fine also.

i'd would suggest removing those damn rubber mounts. one buick i had i put a chain type bracket on it to limit torque movement , but it ended up moving the trans over till the mount took hold . alot , about a half inch or more. my '66 with a 400 tubo uses one from a late '60's cutlass.

the olds cutlass is very similar in appearence , shaped in a stamped channel like cross member as the original buicks just was bolted directly to frame . you will have to drill a hole or four .

It will work but I found that the indentations for the exhaust were smaller so my 3.5 in collectors hit. Just something to consider. Mine came off a 71 LeMans. Ended up putting stock back on. Has held up to 9.96 132
