Back when I was a poor college kid and didn't have much money, I owned a '75 Buick Skylark with a v6. At 88K, it finally blew, taking the block out. Having lots of parts for Buicks and a full 455 in pieces, I assembled a fairly mild 70 block with 71 heads. We put an old set of K-B headers on it and bolted it up to the V6 converter and T350. Everything mated up but the A/C was needed to have the bracket lengthened. Worked like a charm! Well, the first time I got the chance, I gutted the interior and the nasty headliner. I found a real nice set of leather Supra seats to put in it I was off to the track. A buddy had '71 Challenger with a 400 in it and it was pretty quick. We lined up during time trials and had at it. The lights came down and we both launched pretty good, except I had the seat so far back it yanked me off the gas. I got back on it but not soon enough to take him. I didn't tell him what happened and just said I'd have to turn the a/c off next time. We lined up again and I'd scooted the seat up a lot. We launched same as before and I beat him by .2 in the 1/8! To this day he believes I had the air on in the first run!
