I kind of made a error and posted this post prematurely in the wrong forum ( http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?p=561788#post561788 )and decided to post it here where I think it really belongs. Anyway...... It's getting close to that time to decide on a clutch. Since posting the original thread I seem to be getting the feeling that Centerforce 2 or Dual Friction seems to be the better clutch. I am kinda new to the whole high performance 4gear thing so I am looking for opinions on which clutch I should go with. For those who may want to know or think it might be relavant I will be running a 10.5 to 10.75 to 1, 1969 428 (pontiac mill). The new heads have the largest valves that could fit (2.125 I believe). Typical screw in studs, competition valve grind, screw in studs, guide plates and triple springs. I had originally planned on running nitrous but a mis-calculation on my part resulted in more compression than intended . The trans is a 67 M21. I plan on running street tires never slicks. While I don't have them yet I plan on going 3.73 at the most based on what I find as a deal (would prefer 3.55s). Primarily it will be used around town and I do intend to drive it hard most of the time. So guys tell me your thoughts HAyes or Centerforce? Please give me any experiences good or bad as I will appreciate all input. o No:
Centerforce Dual Friction. The Hayes is a good piece, but the Centerforce Dual Friction will give you higher holding force and a lighter pedal. It's the best of both worlds. :TU:
I've had two Hayes clutches in my Buick and I haven't liked either. I'm going to try the centerforce next. I've heard only good things about them. The hayes will make you walk with a limp!! ou:
