Had these made up from one of Gary's original. As far as we could dig up, the aluminum's became available around 1972-3.
Guy, the pics of your stage 2 engine compartment look great are you still running a vintage KB cam? Nice display of the stage 2 head an kustom header looks awesome.
Guy, The header mounted the display head is the same as what that I have . Did they come with the flanges cut, thought someone had cut mine. Mine are rusted a lot so I went with TA stage 2 headers just so would seal . Bill
No, although I have a NOS Stg2 cam. Running a more current straight pattern TA cam designed for a Stg2 head. There are reasons I don't. 1st) the current Buick Stg2 cam was designed for the Stg1 head. It was originally for the 1969 Stg2 Package. Buick was actually working on a cam for the Stg2 head, and had a few experimental ones out there...just never found one (yet!) 2nd) Have you ever heard a Stg2 cam idle? Well, with a Stg2 head it sounds like a tractor LOL.
Hey Bill- No they came the way you see in that pic. They were cut just half way through. Was lucky enough to have Jay sell me these that are pretty nice unmolested shape. The plan is to get the rest of the dents out and have them ceramic coated white, and install them. Note the flanges are stepped. That is so they fit the first style vertical boss heads. The straight TA flanges will not fit...the flange would hit the bosses and would never bolt up.
I figured it sound like the KB 107 the specs are pretty close. I had a 107 in my Stage 1 back the late 80s
Actually the KB 107 sounds way nastier... What are the specs on the Stg2 cam? ***edit** suppose I could look it up. Looks like the specs are kind of close with the 107 being a little larger
As per GSX-TRA 1982 STAGE 2 cam specs Intake lift .455" Exhaust lift 480" Advertised Intake duration 340* Advertised Ex duration 360* @ .050 240* intake 260* exhaust 115 centerline.
Sorry to hijack. I know you enquired about pricing. Let me know if i should delete my post. Will in a heart beat. Here's one of the nickel welding pics Buick did on the prototypes i was talking about.
This is a stage 2 engine that Herman Gross owns. I heard it was in a circle track car back in the day, hence the crazy looking headers.
I would e interested in a set to complete my Stage 2 stuff I have the heads are the missing piece, then my GSX would go full Stage 2 like the factory. I will be getting the Michigan plate reproduced over the winter.
Those headers look wicked! Probably used as a Late Model engine. Those look like crossover collectors / 180* and they dump straight through the firewall into where the RF passenger seat would be in a normal call. A lot of LM cars have a tub for the driver seat and have a sheet metal firewall fabricated over the entire rest of the entire of the interior, especially for dirt track cars.
