Hi all, I am looking for a case separator as I can't seem to get my carrier out of the axle housing. I saw one listed on Randys ring and pinion, but they want 400+ for it, look I ng for a more economical solution as I paid less for my posi. Regards,
You just want to remove the posi unit from the axle housing? I just use a crowbar. Just rotate the carrier,so there is a solid area facing the pinion.Use the hook end,go in under the carrier,until you get the hook behind it. The hook will push against the carrier,and the back of the hook will push against the pinion head.
I use a machinist j-bar under the ring gear bolt just over where the bearing caps was mounted. then take the j-hook and go under the round body of the posi unit between the pinion head and the round posi body and pry again upward. Yiu can not be a whimp about it. really strike it with the palm of your hand or a dead blow hammer. ALSO please be sure you have the axle shaft out of the housing...Just incase your really lost...lol. OH and the bearing caps have to be removed too. Hey sometimes you forget the little things....
