i need help on carb selection. i have always been a quad. guy.i want to know who builds a good one,or can upgrade mine. has anyone used the quad from jet performance. i am not going edelbrock there overrated. has anyone used a carb called predator,it looks mean.i am building a 455 to run low 12s hi 11s. and still drive to work . ps i cant stand holey carbs i am not even thinking of running one of those or one like it,they are junk.
John Osborne rebuilds q-jets http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=29392&highlight=osborne+carb
Jet did my Holley and I love it. John is great. Also, BIGGS does a nice job from what I hear. The 750 Q-jet is nowhere near enough carb for you. The 71 and later Qs are 800s.
carb shane, the rochester carb will work fine for you. i had jet performance rebuild mine and it came out great. no leaks, no bog and it looked good. after i had it rebuilt i installed a holley 850 double pumper on my gs. the holley was a good carb also but it did not improve my e.t. over the q-jet. its funny, the holley felt quicker at low rpm but the carbs were equal on the dragstrip.
thanks for all the replys, i do have a 800cfm quad off the 73 455 i got. i am either going to get it rebuilt,or buy one from jet. like i said i never liked holleys there to tempermental. not good street carbs in my own opinion.not to mention they dont have that q/jet sound when the open up. i have run edelbrocks on my small block chevys i was not impressed.
