Just thought I'd post a different kind of Kill...

Last weekend I took Wagon to drop off my spare tailgate for some rework. I just wanted to get one last ride in before the snow hits. I was running nice and safe, 40MPH limit, 9:30 with no traffic on the road... and this set of lights comes up fairly fast behind me and starts to tailgate. OK, we'll play with this guy. I slow down a bit to 30 so he guns up to pass me and it turns out to be a one of these pimped out Neon SRT's.

I'll give him credit, Wagon didn't just walk away from him, I had to hold near WOT to keep him from getting ahead of me.

The particualr road we were on ends with a very abrupt set of turns, and having spent a considerable amount of time on Wagon's brakes and suspension this year I thought it might be fun to see if I could take him in the turns. Negative roll front end with matched spring/swaybar combo, 12.5" vented & ducted brakes, balanced weighting, and a tubular rear setup, poly body bushings... oh and pathetic old 15" rims. not a lot of hardware, btu alot of matching and reworking of the suspension here. The first run is the only real nasty one, a 75* tight right with concrete barriers. I was only doing about 70-75MPH in the run up to this turn so it wasn't much of a risk, could have still stopped in time.

He got on the brakes first and dropped away about a carlength. I followed suit with the brakes brought Wagon down to about 35 but held on until I was just crossing into the turn and gave her a good solid brake stab & rock to get the leading tire locked and keep the rear end pushing around and thourgh the corner. Cut the apex perfectly with just a bit of drift on the back end and came out of the corner clean and straight. Checked my rearview and the Neon was about 6 carlengths back. Stomped the throttle and didn't even get a ricer flyby.

Chalk up one Buick kill for turning & burning... I don't think a line launch contest winner would have been in question in this case :3gears:

    LOL

You OWNED his brand new car on a turn in a 25+ year old car! I bet he was never expecting that.

Maybe he didn't feel like possibly getting into an accident worth it. Are you sure it was an SRT4 and not a standard Neon?

Even a standard Neon can usually outhandle a car that old (i've driven a few). However you slice it, he got surprised so please don't try to make excuses for him, ATX. Besides, depending on how fast the wagon is it's likely it was an SRT-4. I don't recall his wagon as being real slow and a standard Neon is.

I see you're back and making excuses for the rice crowd again. As for a response, read AZ's comments.

Nice kill :TU: Bet it feels good to "burn" and "out-turn" a newer car, especially an srt4! :3gears:

Good kill, not something we see much around here. Handling? Buick? Faghetabaatit. :pp Plus you probably paid less to build your wagon that he paid to buy his SRT4!! Bitchin!

I see you still have an import's tach in your avatar. I also see that you are calling a Dodge a ricer. Please stay out of conversations in which your lack of automotive knowledge hinders you to the point of ridicule.

Is it physically possible to have a Kill thread that isn't packed with insults for once?

Yea, it must be a ricer because no domestic tach goes to 8k.

Your knowledge of body kits and wings really owns me man.

A Dodge Neon is a sport compact..........it's a ricer plain and simple.......nothing to argue about.........'specially if it has a wing on it. :bglasses:

Are those Neons a Mitsubishi based car?
Are they made in North America, are the parts shipped in, I don't know anything about them, I thought they were WRXs at first.
A friend saw one do the high 12s at Fontana last weekend. It was trucked in. He and a friend drove their GNs up and did low and high 10s.

The sun tach in my 60 Falcon went to 8,000 rpm. This was in 1971, I never got it past about 7,000 though and that wasn't on purpose.

I have never seen a domestic car that comes with an 8k redline stock. Yes, domestics when built up can rev to 8k, but that is a factory tach.... from an import.

When do I talk about wings and body kits? You should seriously stop making things up and stick to your threads that aren't car related... 99.99 percent of them.
