I sure hope someone can seriously offer me a solution. I got the skylark back finally and installed the engine and transmission. also got the floor cut for the shifter (this is a 4 speed conversion). i put the shifter onto the transmission (super t10) and was able to get the reverse rod on there fine and the forward most shift rod (1st gear??) but the rod that goes in the middle, well its right smack against the nut/stud for the reverse without even coming close to letting the square plate sit on its stud. its as if the reverse stud is out way to far which it isnt cause i looked at another st10 that i was using in the olds and everything looks the same. in my parts box i found a set of offset plates but they seem awkward, the shifter rod sits way higher and the plate seems to want to flex a lot where the rod goes, just seems a sloppy way to go. now before i go on everything is correct, its a gs hurst shifter and all. the only thing different is im using the st10 tranny instead of a muncie but i only just did the same conversion in my 70 cutlass and i had no issues what so ever. so now i was thinking to put a few shims between the plate the shifter attaches to so that it moves the shifter a fraction of an inch away from the tranny (thats to its left) or cutting the reverse stud down which i really really dont want to do and then the rod would still rub the nut i think. else maybe they make a set of offset plates with the same length as the stock plates, the ones i found where about a half inch taller then the stock ones. ok so give me some ideas, i dont want to do something permenant to the tranny since it cost an arm and a leg (it was race prepped with a ton of goodies but i still believe it to have started out with the stock type of case as opposed to some case that is throwing my geometry off if there is even such a thing). i could try to grind down the shift rod but not sure if that will weaken it to much or does anyone know if they have those rods with a slightly bigger offset? ok I'm all ears or eyes.

  LOL..... you guys and your conversions....  :bla:

:idea2: you need to get a muncie trans or ..... a T-10 shifter...if you billy it up it won't work right..... get the right stuff....:dollar: :dollar: :dollar:

I bet you have the 5335 handle too....

:idea2: also if you placed the hole for a muncie trans.....:Do No: :Do No: it's probably in the wrong spot for a T-10...... :Dou:

    good luck

    BadBrad Got 4-speed?

Using a Super T-10 and a Hurst Competition Plus shifter here in an otherwise dead-stock 4 speed muncie car.

Yes - rods are a tight fit but never a problem here. In fact just put it all back together in May. Works perfect. No shims; no funky stuff. Keep the locknuts loose until rods are inserted.

    It'll work. Be patient.

I have a 1970 Muncie and a (what I think) is a 60s Saginaw 4 speed. They both have Hust shifters and the linkage is different on both trans. If you look on summit they have different shifter linkage kits for different trannies. Are you SURE you have the right one?
