I'm still using the odd-fire 231 V6 HEI that had been in my Skylark since I got the car in 1996. When I went to a 455 I pulled a reluctor off an Olds HEI distributor (Pontiac's spin the wrong way so the rotor phasing would be wrong, Cadillac's I think would work too) and bought a new pickup coil (probably could of used the one of the Olds distributor..) and put them on my V6 distributor, then took the points distributor gear and drilled out the roll pin hole to the HEI size and installed it on the 231 distributor shaft and it worked like a champ.

Olds is way different. It spins in opposite direction as well.
