Can I use a Chevelle 4spd Console?

I am going to be doing a Tremec conversion soon to my '66 Skylark that currently has an automatic. I had just assumed that I couldn't use same year Chevelle consoles and that I would be stuck looking for a good original Buick one or just going without. I was surfing around and saw these on a Chevelle site and they look reasonably free of badging:

Has anybody gone this route? Are there any issues I am missing?

    Thanks,
    Ray

You could just rubber boot and chrome trim ring it.

It'll certainly fit because all the A-body cars share the same floor and seat frames per year. I'm not familiar with what the dash looks like on a `66 Skylark but if it's anything like my `65 it is basically ribbed chrome dash, and the Chevelle console is more of a textured black. The reason I mention this is it could tend to look a little more out of place than you think. Maybe look into a `64-`66 GTO console, which is ribbed chrome.

Ryans-GSX Have fun, life is short.

The console would work and I think if you want to do something cool have a trophy shop make you a plate with a tri shield on it for the console where the shift pattern goes. Then just get a shifter ball with the shift pattern on it. The complete setup is available from Parts Place inc. I also like the 24 hour clock but you could also have a tri shield plate made if you didnt want to have the clock.

I like that clock. I been wanting to put a clock where the tach would go in the center console of my 65. I pulled the clock out of the dash and put a tach there. Any part numbers on the clock.

If you go with that console get the offset shifter from American Powertrain (or another vendor) so it lines up with the offset factory location. TKO’s are based on the Ford Top Loader and the shifter is not offset like other OEM’s.

Which Tremec? It will likely require the trans tunnel to be modified which would make any stock console not fit properly.
As Bill mentioned, the TKO has the shifter centered, so an auto console may work with some mods.
Or buy the offset shifter to use a 4 speed console.

George, aka Staged67GSpower, I believe used the Buick auto console with his TKO.
