Im starting this thread to post pictures and progress of my newly purchased 69 GS400. It really doesn't need anything, it runs and drives great. The only thing I have to do is fix the AC, which is needed in Florida. It's a super clean, rust free car that still has the original GM sheet metal. After what I'm going through with my Monte Carlo, I feel that this is a major advantage. Pics to follow

I knew that if this car was as clean as it was advertised, I was going to buy it. Did I pay too much for a stepchild? Probably. Could I have built this car for what I paid for it. No freaking way!!!! Can I hop in it and drive to where ever I want? Sure can.

Plus, it’s almost exactly like my car from high school, only 1000 times better. This is my car from high school

It's also equipped with the rare reclining pass. seat & tilt. Ironically I was with John when he looked at/picked up both his '68 Skylark when we were in HS (IIRC we had to put a water pump in just to drive it home) & also this '69 GS 400. It's truly a beautiful & rust free car w/a tough look to it. Fun trip & we nitpicked stuff but in the end there was nothing saying not to buy it.

Dano, I don't remember the water pump deal, but it very well might have happened. I do remember taking it to Lutherville Gulf after hours to check it out. Some kind of after school program, Boy Scouts. Explorers kind of thing. It needed some bodywork. So I filled the holes with scrap metal and body putty. Also had a set of tires installed, Dunlop GT Qualifiers bias ply. I was living large w/ white letter tires!

I could be mistaken but pretty sure we put a water pump on it right on the auction lot. IIRC you paid Jay $700/$750 for it?

I thought I paid 500 for it. Knowing Jay, he was probably asking 750. He was a shady character back then. But, yes, I did get it from an auction lot.

John............. Now you're making me miss her!! LOL! She may have a few quirks to still iron out, but I don't believe that you could have found a car with better bones! I'll miss her like I miss all the others that I sold and regret doing so. I'm just not able to keep them all! Enjoy my friend!!

Super clean car! And the same color as my Skylark too. Really like the black top with this color. I once saw a chevelle with this color combo(butternut yellow/black top) and thought it really stands out.
