Here's a question that I have about cams. I not a avid gearhead...just knowledgable enough to get in trouble... I purchased a brand new cam 2 years ago that was cut from uncut new stock found by the GS club of America. I chose a profile of H212-224/114. I wanted it hotter than stock but not so hot that it would sound like it couldn't idle... Well, this new cam is better, but I wish it was hotter...still think there is room. Now here's the question... I know that guys who buy hotter cams for nailheads are getting old cams that are reground because there is no new stock to cut from. (The stock I got was a rare find and there is no more...) When they regrind an old cam do they have to add metal as well as grind some off? Could I send in my original cam and have it ground hotter than my new one?
Cam Regrind Thought I was just wondering if the best course of action was to contact the source directly. Carmen Faso in Tonawanda, NY is the guy I call for all of my Nailhead needs. His number is (716)693-4090. I would bet that you could try to stump him for days and not find a way to do it. I hope this helps you. Ralph Nicastro Jr. 64 Skylark 401 CID Norwalk, CA
Carmen is the way to go. I have bought from him and found all the good things I didn't know about the Nailhead . He can make one run. Jim
