I run the 1970-72 GSX registry. please read the attached thread.

    GSX Registry

I have seen a lot of people on the board that own GSX's and are not in the registry. The registry is here for you and it only takes a few minutes to fill out a registry.

Please consider becoming part of the registry to help us better understand these cars.

If you are not intertested in joining please let me know why you may not join.

    Contact me with any questions.

The Registry is great! I've learned many things and have met many people I never would have met without it. If you have a GSX, it's a must do.

Is the lack of response an indication of the level of enthusiasm GSX owners have towards the GSX registry?

Please respond on how I could make it better or what would get you to join or why concerns you about joining?

I'm kind of curious myself about why there isn't more enthusiasm towards the registry.

I have noticed that what Marco does, is targets people with stage1 cars, and hounds them until they register  But It's done very tastefully. Maybe this approach would bring in more numbers for you. I've had no problems giving my own website plugs every now and then.

Every time you see a GSX that hasn't been registered, make an effort to contact the owner of the car/cars and ask them to register their car.

I am not as active as I once was. When I started the GSX registry I gathered as many names as possible (more then 300). Sent them all a mailer every year for the first 3 years I did the registry. I also cold called people on a regular basis for the first year. I used to call on every GSX I saw for sale and ask them to register. I have had posters at major events such as Bowling Green KY and I own and operate a website out of my own pocket. I have never asked for as much as a dime from anyone and only want to collect and provide information.

I have spent an enormous amount of time, effort and money to proppogate the registry by making it free and confidential and still I know of people who are well known in Buick circles that have not registered their cars. I even have people in the registry who have acquired additional GSX's that have not registered them.

After 5 years of doing the registry I have come to the conclusion that no matter how helpful, interested or persistant you are there are some people that are not interested.

I have always seen it as a win-win situtation. I get the information about existing cars and they get the benifit of the results of the information and all the addition information I dig up.

I am in no way complaining about this just stating the facts. I truely have devoted a great deal to this cause. I was hoping to spark some interest with this post and reach out to those who are not currently in the registry or at least understand why people are not interested in signing up so I could change my methods if I needed to.

    Mark,
I've met two local owners of yellow GSX's this summer and have supplied them with information to your site so that they could get them registered. It amazes me that these cars are sitting in garages and the owners are unaware of the various clubs and websites available to them. You can't do it alone, it's going to take all of us to spread the word about your great site and service. I appreciate all the time you and your wife put into getting all the dealer code info while at Flint this year. That had to be a ton of work for you both. I tried to find my dealer code (08-307) on your list but it wasn't there so, the search continues for the origin of my GSX. Thanks again Mark for all your hard work in keeping this site going.

How about asking Jim W. to add a GSX forum to this site? I'm sure there are enough of GSX owners here to fill that forum with lots of info. Maybe it would also convince some people to get involved with the registry.
IMO, the more we discuss and document our cars, the more interest (and increased value) there will be in them.

    It's worth it to register!

It is definitely worth it for an owner to register.
Mark sends out a packet of information every year, and always includes copies of interesting articles, literature, or anything else he might have come across throughout the year.
You also get information on other GSX's (no real personal info),
like how others are optioned like yours and stuff like that.

Thanks Mark for all the hard work!:TU:

Hi Mark,I agree with the others that it is worth registring your GSX with you.I have not sent you the info on my white GSX because I do not have the window sticker on it.I do have some documentation with the orginal build sheet and talked with Wanye Roberts before the purchase and he verified it was a real X before I purchased.I just have not had the time and money to send for the info packet from him yet.As soon as I do I will register it with you.I have not done so yet becuase with the disassemabled state of the car I do not know all the options it came with from the factory and have not and can't decode the build sheet.I will get with Marco as well at that time.

    Mark-

I registered with you several years ago and I just wanted to say thanks for all the hard work you put into this. When the mailing shows up it is always a pleasant surprise and I spend many an hour reading through it! Lots of great information there.

Thanks again for your efforts! :TU:
