Bye bye Acura guy...

Phil It really *is* a 350...

I was on the freeway the other day, cruising in the right hand lane and came up on a black Acura RSX, lowered and aside from some nice aftermarket wheels looking pretty stock. As I passed him he started to pace me so I squeezed the throttle a bit and he pulled back up to me so I decided to let it rip.

I easily lurched ahead and kept pulling until I was about a football field ahead and then let off the gas. He caught up and passed me and I just grinned.

Silly children and their wind-up toys.

    :)

I never have and never will understand the fly by mentality.

If you lost you lost! I've lost my share.

Wait till you build enough car to do that to motorcycles and watch them turn themselves in self destruct missles going by at 120+.

Maybe it's the "my top end is better than your top end mentality"

My sisters Mustang will go faster top end than I want go while sitting on top of the KZ @ 130 MPH. Its like being in a hurricane with your feet floping in the wind behind you.

I had an 81 KZ-1300. With the I-6 and 3 deuces it was easy to get to 140 on a long stretch of road. It was deceptively quick for it's size and age, and really stable at speed.

You just had to lie flat on the tank and keep your head forward. :TU:

The one memorable stoplight run against a bike was the Skylark vs. an early KZ-750 with a Kerker pipe. The car was still in various shades of gray primer and sandlewood paint, running Mickey Thompson SS tires on 15" Buick rally wheels.

The guy couldn't believe that I could hang with his bike and that I only had a 350 in it. Turns out I noticed his shop uniform and told him to talk to my brother-in-law (JR) who worked at the same shop as a mechanic. JR comes by the house the next day saying that the kid didn't believe him either, adamant that I had a 455 in the car.

We had a pretty good chuckle about it. :)

I've told this story before but here is the short version.
I take the T out to dust it off and come up on three sport bikes behind a car doing 50 on an open two lane country road that goes straight with no side streets for 3-4 miles. The last guy eyeballs me in his mirror as he drops a couple of gears, gasses on it and follows the other two around the car in front of them. I already had the boot turned up and the alky on so whoooooosh I'm closing on his tailight. I really couldn't believe how quickly I closed the gap as his eyes widen to my grill in his mirrors as we approach 80. They all pull back in, I keep my foot in it slide past pretty quickly and run it up to about 140 with about 25-30 car lengths between us.

I let off and they do the fly-by all with thumbs up as they pass. I'm guessing they were 650's or smaller. I would never have gotten around the big boys, I would have hung with them but not gotten around them.
