Sup peeps.... Does anyone know or think a Special thats equipped with a 215 v8, 2bbr carb and auto trans can do a burnout or peel out? XD
Anything's possible, but don't get carried away with smoking a tire if yours is an open differential (non posi), as it is the number one killer of the spider gears and cross shaft inside the differential. Save the smokey burnouts for the positration/limited slip setup! Devon
I was mainly wondering if that engine had the power to do that but the weak spot would be the diff huh? To my understanding, a non posi rear end is if 1 rear wheel moves the car forward while in drive and the other wheel moves it back while in reveres. Is that correct? How would you check to see if you have a posi rear end?
In theory your rear diff should have a posi-tag on it, but we all know that isn't always the case. You can open your rearend and visually inspect it, or also jack up the rear end and see if the wheels move in the same or different direction is what I've always been told. I learned mine was an open diff the other day when it was raining and it only spun one tire while I was turning.
hmm well the other day i had my rear end lifted to work on the brakes and i noticed when i spun 1 wheel, the other side spun the opposite direction. It would be cool to find out i had a posi but i thought these 62 specials didnt come with them.
In my younger days, we would pour out half a bottle of tranny fluid on the pavement and put the one wheel wonder on it and smoke out the whole neighborhood.ou:
The longest strip of rubber that I have ever seen left on the road by a street-legal automobile was by a 1950 Ford six-cylinder 3-speed stick. That's a flathead six.
Yep, sometimes the "burnouts" come from unlikely sources. Many years ago, when I thought burnouts were cool, I did one in my '58 Ford, 352, with auto tranny, that was so long and severe, that i, and two friends had to stop and bail out of the completely smoke filled cabin! You know, when I think back on it, that WAS fun !
my parent's old '95 Plymouth Voyager could smoke the tires. it had the 3.8L V-6, fwd and nothing in back :3gears:
my 63 prior to pulling out did lay rubber had the 200 horse motor put a 4 bbl on it and wake it up... got bored with it so out it came and a 401 is currently in the works....
