Guess my Ramrod doesn't like car shows and cruises after 10 years of fun racing Pure Stock and FAST. Something let go in the engine on the way home from a small cruise nearby. Started missing, then oil pressure got very erratic. Stopped, no oil showing on the dipstick...?? Only 100 miles since oil change. Added 2 qts, oil pressure back to 50 and stable. Went about 2 blocks and smoke pouring from RH tailpipe...rollback time..

Checked oil next day, now shows 2 qts high....

That's kind of what I expect. #4 plug is oil covered...

#4 rocker broke, pushrod held out..Hoping all else is OK, going to readjust the oil level, cycle it with the plugs out to see if there's any oil in the cylinder (suspect there is since there was some in the plug), put on another rocker and start it up to see if any noises, smoke or oil pressure problems. No sign of anything broken that would plug the return hole. Guess with the pushrod off the lifter, it was a wide open geyser through the lifter itself.

These rockers are the Crane hardened ones and didn't show much wear in the seat at the pushrod, wonder if they were too brittle. This happened years back on the original rockers.

No matter what, going to roller rockers. Enough of this crap...

    Exact same thought here.
A friend of mine had this happen on his weekend bracket car that he drives to, and from the track.
It happened on the way to the track,sb chevy, broke a rocker in half through the stud, and the lifter jumped out of it's bore.
My friend had a broken hand(in cast) at the time, he babied the car to the track, and when he got there I got the pleasure of using a flexible 3-finger grabber, mini maglight, and had to get the lifter back in it's bore through the pushrod hole in the head.
Boy, that was fun on a hot July day.:Dou:

    Hope she's o.k. Dave.
