http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=401648#post401648 The boys over on the turbo board were asking about the old Buick turbo from back in the '60's. I know it was never released to the public because of the incredible power. I don't remember what motor they put the turbo on.
I believe it was a 425 Nailhead and it cranked out something like 850 lb/ft of torque. I know I wouldn't want to warranty something with that motor in it. Be replacing axles, driveshafts, and trannys every week............
That's what I thought too. They were saying it was a 330 ci motor, but I thought they experimented with the 425.
330 was an Olds, which they probably had confused with the production turbo'd 215 F-85 made by Oldsmobile. It was barely faster than the regular model as I understand it, although I'm sure the auto trans behind it didn't help matters much. The turbo'd nailhead was a total different animal, which you correctly described above.
