Yes, I am swapping from knee knocker to console. So, in order to access the needle, I need to pry the black face plate away from the housing? The red line knob is still attached. Just want to confirm. Thanks again. Edit: never mind, I got it.
Hi Gary (or anyone else who may know). I finally got around to replacing the lens. I can't seem to get the housing to fit into the consolette cup. Do I need to cut notches to correspond to the notches in the lens? I just want to double check that i haven't overlooked something before I modify this unit. Thanks for your help.
You will need to slightly notch the face plate and the rear cup to fit the console housing. The cups are different between the knee knocker cup and console cup.
Hello, I just wanted to share a photo of my Auto meter pedestal tachometer 2897. I contacted Gary via PM and purchased one of his lens' for my Buick console cup. The lens was cut perfect and fit the cup without any modification. I was able to disassemble my Auto meter tach and fit it into the original Buick cup with a little modification. The Buick decal that Gary sent was applied to my tach face. I now have a modern tach that looks retro Buick. Regards, Robert
