  2. In and effort to reduce the spam on the site, several years ago I had went to a program where I manually approve each and every new registration. This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy.. Just send an email to me at jim@trishieldperformance.com and I will verify your registration. This policy will remain in effect indefinitely, as it has completely eliminated the bad actors from our site, who would spam and hack it, once they gained access. Thanks JW

Are we ONLY talking about California?

I was under the belief that the Federal Government was in control of toxic chemicals used in Chrome plating. The EPA to be the exact.

Bill, what did you find out?
    Is it Nation wide? Ver

California is going "above and beyond" Federal regulation.

I found what I was asking about.

No, hexavalent chromium is not banned in the United States, but it is being phased out in California and by some other jurisdictions.

So, for the foreseeable future, hexavallent chrome is good to go, Ya. Vet

Sorry - Just got back on. The operating and equipment cost to operate a chrome plant has skyrocketed due to the cancer (both nasal and throat) risk to workers from hexavalent chromium. Other chemicals used in a plant like muratic acid, sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide, nitric acid, acid copper, copper alky, and caustic stripping w/sodium hydroxide are also difficult to handle safely. So it may not be illegal in other states, but it is expensive (cost prohibitive?) to do the work. Then there's the liability and insurance costs.
