Great thanks, i guess i didnt put in the whole phrase and for some reason missed it.

I email the guy and may call at lunch. I have a 430 i am trying to build now to put in my 69 GS...i would spend more than that price trying to get it road worthy with a little added HP...figured why not check this out and swap it right it in.

You may see a 430 for sale soon :Brow:

I got a hold of him today...he says it is about a 10 year old rebuild with some stage one spec heads...not an orignal stage one.

Has some good mods and seems to be solid...it was in an 82 regal but he has had tranny problems...says its runs good.

1750 too high for an older build..? I was hoping to do my own fresh one for that price or a bit more? what is a decent offer for this engine considering i have to travel a long way to get it sight un-seen.

    thanks.

A real good rebuild to stage 1 spec on a 455 done correctly will cost way more than that. everything depends on who and how the work was done. Just throwing the big valves in the heads doesn't give much.

Ask him who did the work, what exactly was done and what were the clearances used, the parts and the numbers for the cam, the pistons etc. Ask him for the paperwork for what was done--- not the charges.

Good advice...I will look into it.

I know he mentioned the machine shop that worked on it...but before i would drive up there to get it i would need some paperwork...

    I have asked for pictures....
