Gentlemen, A few years back, I read an article that mentioned something along the lines of the Buick 455 crankshaft is the same size as the 500 V8 Cadillac crank ... and the Buick 455 made 510 lbs/ft torque --- @ 35 lbs/ft less TORQUE than the Caddy-500 ... which made it's peak torque @ 3200-rpm opposed to the Buick's 2800-rpm. The Buick 455 has a 3.9" stroke, the Caddy 500 is 4.304". Huge difference there, and that's only one factor among hundreds that affect engine output. Devon
