Buick 340ci and 300ci difference?

    Hi to all,
    According to the buick books that I have read, the 340ci is a stroked version of the 300. In my service manual for 1966 buicks the only difference I can see is that the 340 has a longer stroke, there is no mention in my buick workshop manual about a different block, so where does the taller block? thang come into it.
    I know the earlier 215 was smaller but I was under the impression that the 300ci and the 340ci shared the same block and the only difference was the internal length of the stroke, any info would be much appreciated, thanks, Louis :Do No:
