Were buckets, console and floor shifter ever an option on 70-72 GS/Skylarks? I can't find a definitive answer. Thanks, John
In 1970, they were available on the 'New Car Order' form. Nothing special for the salesperson to do. In 1971-1972, they were not on the order form, but you could get them as an 'SCO' (special car order). SCO cars will have a very low Fisher Body number, and the bucket seats/headrests should be date coded according to the build date of the GS. The discrepency began because the 'Daily car reports' (Buick's records) do not identify any production figures for bucket seat convertible Gran Sports. I have seen window stickers and build sheets from 1971 and 1972 convertibles which prove otherwise. HTH
Like Marco said; 1970-1972 Coupes yes they were available 1970 Convertibles, yes they were available 1971-72 Convertibles, only available as special order.
Thanks guys. I knew about the coupes. My interest was the convertibles. I had a lead on a 72 conv Skylark with buckets and my local Buick buddies could not agree if they were factory or not. The car sold, so the search continues. Sux that I've missed out on 6 different cars in the past couple of weeks. Always been a day late or a dollar short ou: . John
Hi John - The cowl tag will hold the originality of the factory buckets (along with any original documentation) :beer Good luck in your serach :TU:
