This car was sort of "inherited" and I don't want to be the one who's responsible for not keeping it on the road.

Problem is, it's been stopping like crap lately. The pedal goes all the way to the floor and I get just a "little", I mean very little pressure and braking before the pedal hits. Not safe to drive by any means.

It stopped like a dream before. This all came about after a nasty rain.

I'm not a brake expert. Somebody here has got to know more than me.

    Thanks.

    SWEET 68 !

Tom , first I would get all 4 wheels off and pull the drums . You will be checking all wheel cylinders for leaks ( i'd replace all four ) but do as you see fit .

Check master cylinder for leaks .. Check all brake lines front to rear for any leaks . If no leaks are found , replace the master cylinder .

While you have this all apart is the time to install New brake hardware and new shoes . Front grease seals and check and repack the front bearings .

My 68 leSabre had the complete brake system replaced when I went thru the car when I bought it .

Once you do the complete system your good to go .

Remember these cars are big and heavy and also 36 years old .

Good Luck to you ..:pp :TU:
