I'm installing a 455 into a 65 Lesabre (non-AC). I will need to install a ps pmp/bracket & alternator/ brackets. Does it matter which type of bracket I use? Can either AC or non-AC brackets be installed? Are the mounting location between AC & non-AC brackets different? I don't really know the differences between these brackets. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
on an ac car, the alternator bracket and the Ac bracket are one piece. you could use it on a non ac car, but it would look dorky. I am hunting one down as I am putting an ac motor in my non ac 68 special deluxe. Don't forget the 2 groove crank pulley for a neater apperance. Power steering bracketry is the same. Ted
Friend of mine used a non-AC bracket from a 231 V6 and works well. He found it in the junkyard and paid a dollar for it.
brackets Yeah, It seems like alot of the alternator brackets (non-AC) are interchangeable.... I was able to use the alternator bracket from the original engine a 300 ci small block. Although, the alternator tension bracket is not interchangeable. I will need a longer tension bracket. I can not use the power steering pump bracket from that same motor. It mounts to the 455 OK but when the belt is installed it interfers with the water pump. I will need a bracket that will lower the pump so that the belt won't rub on the water pump. I was able to find both brackets from a member. Hopefully, everything will bolt up.
