Hey guys, I have been reading the threads on using solid lifters on hyd. cams. When would it be required to use a lifter bore brace such as ta 1124?

That’s only if your using super high lift ROLLER cam and lifters.
The steep ramps on roller cams naturally side load the roller lifter before it starts its climb up the lobe.
Flat tappet cams, regardless if solid or hydraulic have much gentler lobe profiles, so it’s not an issue.

When you have crazy spring pressures for high lift roller cams, you need a brace. My roller cam motor does not have a brace. My spring pressures are 370/145. Motor has been together 10+ years and has about 40 passes on it.

Thank you both . I would have thought in your case Larry you would have needed a brace.
