Thanks for the reply Im hoping that the new car will weigh around 3400 with me in it,and with a warmed over ,blueprinted stock appearing 70 Stage 1 engine it will run mid 13s in Denver Well see i suppose
Well, I had a 73 Stage 1 4spd I ran at the Pure Stock Drags that weighed over 4200lbs with me in it, had 3.42 gears, and I think my best was a 13.89@101mph. My opinion is that your goal E.T. should be easy to obtain, even at that elevation.
Well , im glad your so optimistic lol Unfortunately it needs to be built like a mid 12sec car at sea level for it to run mid to hi 13s up in Denver Also needs to do it through iron intake, exh manfolds ,etc Although it will have ported manifolds, intake ,heads etc and some cam and converter as well
My 72 low compression Stage 1 ran 12.42 at 108 mph.(NHRA F/Stock Automatic), I did make several runs in the 30's but not for the record. Doug Jones 70 Stage 1 ran 11.64 at 117 (I think maybe 11.68) in C/SA for the record. Those high compression motors were really fast! His G/SA car ran 12.20's, it was a non Stage1 . His car was 150# lighter than mine. He had a few tuning secrets I hadn't learned yet.
We have a 1970 non air Car Driver @ 4100lbs . only modifications unilite & drilled Q-jet . 13.66 with a 3:64 rear and 13:20s with a 4:10 gear 255/15 tire .Never been apart 50k mile car... My 1970 with a/c & unknow cam & Stock everything else went 13.46@101 with too much timing & 275/15 BFG. Both cars through a stock small exhaust system . The firist car now has a 2.5 exhaust and manifolds 4:10 gears
99.9% Bone Stock, "untouched by human hands"--(LEGIT TRACK #'s-- 13.410 E.T. + 102.95 MPH)---Prior to "re-cone-ing" the posi.....So, it was a 1 + 1/2 legged launch!! http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?261166-Your-ALL-TIME-Favorite-1970-GS-Stage1-Picture&p=2145929&highlight=#post2145929
I remember seeing it run the day it was purchased but do not recall time it ran. Talking about Carl Rychlik's gorgeous Stage1 before it's resto.
Yup ... Fred Weisse dropped it off the trailer looking all clapped out but none the less stock 70 GS455 Stage1. Im thinking I remember it running 13.7's
My GS455 stock. Went 14.01@99mph. 3700lbs.3:42 stock posi. i feel I could of started tuning but only had time to run it 3 times. No adjustments were made. establishing my base line.
