what kind of resources do you have i.e. motor lift chain falls or cable come a-long you can rig up a good sturdy 4x4 to fit under the trunk you will need to remove the lid . in the front you can hook a couple of eye bolts in each corner of the cowl and use a motor hoist to lift .make sure you use blocking to secure the body crap happens real easy hate to see anybody hurt.i used jacks and blocking to do mine.

See the site below. We have pics on the front page as well as an article. I use two engine hoists. Makes it very simple. Would suggest you build a body dolly to move the body around.

Ingenius although i can get my car to a lift my buddy has a pole barn and a 10,000 lb lift hehehe but that site definately gave me some awesome tips thanks buddy

I was mainly worried about a torque and detorque pattern on the body bolts and if that mattered or not also what lil shortcuts i might be able to take to disconnect as few components as possiable

but hey definatly thanks for bringing that site to my attention

There are not many items that hold the body to the frame.

If you don't want to open the brake system, disconnect
the master cylinder from the booster and fabricate a brkt to hold it in place.

Disconnect all body mounts and the core support mounts.

Disconnect the fuel lines at the tank. Remove the rear bumper so gas filler neck will clear.

Disconnect the e-brake cable. The cable will be a pain to remove since it goes through the frame and is not very flexible.

Disconnect the steering column from the steering box.

Disconnect the engine and headlight harness from the firewall junction with the fuse box.

If you car has ac, you can remove the ac box from the firewall and remove the entire system as a unit. Or, open the system and disconnect lines from ac box. Disconnect heater hoses.

There are a couple vacuum lines that go from engine to firewall. Disconnect those. Don't forget to disconnect the body ground that goes from engine head, pass side to voltage regulator, it is a woven copper connector.

That is all there is to it. When you lift the body, go slowly and check for any missed items.

    The cheap way ....

This is the way I did it for a 66 Riviera. Not easy but it worked with a cherry picker from SAMS with some chain.
