  2. In and effort to reduce the spam on the site, several years ago I had went to a program where I manually approve each and every new registration. This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy.. Just send an email to me at jim@trishieldperformance.com and I will verify your registration. This policy will remain in effect indefinitely, as it has completely eliminated the bad actors from our site, who would spam and hack it, once they gained access. Thanks JW

    not long...

    Hi Dan..

I can give you one data point from my car.

My Cowl Tag says the body was built 4th wk of May, 1972..the Sloan data says the invoice date (when they shipped the car to the dealer) was May 30, 1972.

If I got it right, the body was built sometime between May 22-26 of 1972, sent into final asembly and the car invoiced out on May 30.

It didn't take more than 1-2 days to have a car go down the line..

I visited the Framingham , MA plant in the early 80's..and you could see the process just didn't take that long..depending on how many shifts were being thrown at the line.

I just talked to Andy. Assisted research is available. That means you ask for something (say, 1970 GS information) and they bring it out books from the back and you get to take you time with it. Understandably, they just don't want a 'free-for-all' environment in their storage facility. No appointments are necessary. :beer

A photocopying machine is also available. :bglasses:

I cannot attend the Flint centennial. I'm sure you guys will find some interesting items.

on the topic, I looked at a 72 GS 455 today, body # is 00152 and the vin ends with 103975...now THAT is a spread.....

Not really. VINs (at each plant for the 'A' bodies) started at 100001. The spread is that GS455 was the 3975th car produced at that final assembly plant, and the 152nd car to go through that Fisher body plant (for 'A' bodies).

Makes you wonder about the other models being sold besides the 'A' bodies...

Was it a Freemont CA car? :Brow:

As a matter of fact it is. I always forget that the VIN starts at 100001....
