This approval gives you full access to the site, to pictures, and to post, among other things. To be able to enjoy the full potential of the board for you, you need to be fully registered.. and that's easy.. Just send an email to me at jim@trishieldperformance.com and I will verify your registration. This policy will remain in effect indefinitely, as it has completely eliminated the bad actors from our site, who would spam and hack it, once they gained access. Thanks JW

Boattail VS Trans Am

A little over 10 years ago, I was coming back from a car show with my 72 Riviera GS just cruising along a lonely 2 lane road when I came up on a fairly new Trans Am. The guy was going 55 and I was cruising at 60 and as I was about to pull out to pass, the guy jumps on it and shoots ahead. I figure ok, no biggie and continue at 60. A little later I'm coming back up up on the TA and sure enough he does it again. Well, this time I let him get about 200 feet ahead and then I floored the gas pedal. The Quadrajet goes into full moan and the Riv jumps forward and begins to quickly reel in Mr. Hot Shoe. We came up to a series of curves in the road and I know that 5000 lbs on 4 225/75/15's don't make for a great cornering machine, so I slow down to make the bends and MHS takes off. Now, I know that after the curves is a nice 4 mile straight line before town. Once I hit the straight I can see the TA about a half mile ahead. Well I was younger and more foolish back then and my foot was planted to the floor and the Riv rocketed down the road, about 3 miles later I back on the rear bumper of MHS who's running about 85 and he jumps on it again. Well this time I stay with him and would back off 2-3 car lengths and come right back up on him to let him know that he is ahead of me because I let him be there. As we come up on town we both slow down to 55 and and just before he turns off, I get a thumbs up from the TA driver. The Riv got a well deserved bath when I got home. Kevin

I don't know trans ams that well, but in my neck of the woods there seems to be the model years that lend themselves to the mullet crowd I think they're around '86. Usually come in one of three colors (White, Black, primer or a combo of all three). Well turns out they can't hold a candle to a Riviera, I've beaten my fair share, to be honest, growing up I always thought they were faster.
