I will be having the frame blasted next week. Same shop used to prime and put some industrial black on things for me but he no longer paints.

What the best heavy duty spray can to use?

And would it be satin or semi gloss?

    Thanks

    Take your pick....
    Eastwood Chassis Black
    Chassis Saver
    Zero Rust
    POR-15

It depends on how much prep you want to do. Some paints require a primer, some can be applied over light rust, etc.
If you only want a spray-can, it limits your choices. Others can be applied with a brush or foam roller, resulting in a thicker coating.
Sandblasting can leave a rough finish, it's always a good idea to go over the surface with a DA sander and 80 grit to smooth it out. A sanded surface is also much easier to wipe down for the final cleaning.

I'd go with Satin, it's less glossy.

Agree - or powder coat. Although the sandblast finish will work well with POR15 - gives it something to bite! And POR 15 self levels. Just brush it on. If its too shiny you can top coat it with satin clear spray (I use a UV block clear)- read the directions for top coating.

If you got a compressor get a cheap harbor freight gun and with enamel you can turn the psi down..and skeet skeet without overspray getting everywhere

I like to leave it fresh blast with no sanding...provided a fine media was used and not that black diamond garbage....rinse with few cans of brake clean...use your hand and a blower...then go straight to epoxy and paint

I still can't get the kuhunas to use a paint gun Hugger. Ended up getting the frame blasted and using this VHT chassis and roll bar paint in satin. Still wet in the pic but came out pretty good. Flipped it upside down, painted the underside, dried in 30 minutes to touch, flipped over and did the top/sides.... this is an epoxy paint so no primer was needed... and can paint at 55 degrees so I don't need to heat my shop much over the next 48 hours while it fully cures.

with por 15 or kbs rust coat you will want to top coat it after. I prefer kbs over por tbh. its actually a little more durable and cost less.

Always top coat POR while it's tacky or the top coat won't adhere very well. POR help line gave me this advice. If not you'll have to red pad the surface and break the shine a bit.

Have it sand blasted at a compentent powder coat company and do it in satin black. It will look correct. I’ve done this more tha a couple times. Very easy to clean the dust off. Or in some cases the road debris of. It’s a lot harder and slippery.
And I have a high end sand blaster. But have them do it. Less time for a rust sheet to form
