Old thread, but is there a solution to using 10* retainers with our 11* keepers? I've heard of someone machining retainers for the 11* keeper, but was hoping there were some more readily available solutions.
we had to make our own out of number one steel then heat treat them in a oil bath. Then test the hardness in a Rockwell hardness testing machine. Complete pita, maybe you get lucky and can buy them but I don't know anyone that has them for the stupid 11 degree size. Fernando
Wouldn't it be much easier to machine the retainers out of 7075 bullet aircraft aluminum? You can buy the aluminum stock in McMaster/Carr catalog. Some guys will use 6061 aluminum which is hardened but the 7075 is a higher strength Aluminum alloy. Just a suggestion from a machinist. VET (Navy)
